What Are BIM & Revit Models?

BIM refers to Building Information Modelling – which is the process of creating, managing and presenting information in the form of a 3D model to give architects, engineers and construction professionals the information and insight they need to more efficiently plan, design, construct, and manage buildings and infrastructure.

Autodesk Revit is BIM (Building Information Modelling) software that is used to create detailed and sophisticated models of real-world structures (or real-world structures to be!). It also helps a variety of construction, building and architectural professionals work together on a single project.

Do I Need a BIM & Revit Model?

BIM and Revit Models are quickly becoming an industry standard for all construction projects. Not only do they provide you with a visually appealing model of your structure, but they also empower your architects, engineers and contractors to collaborate between themselves in a more streamlined manner.

Simply put, a BIM and Revit model allows the people on your project to work and communicate more efficiently. This can lead to an increase in productivity and often results in significant cost savings for you or your business.

How Could A BIM & Revit Model Benefit My Site?

BIM & Revit models allow you to:

  • Better visualise a 3D space or structure, which in turn allows you to communicate information more clearly to your clients and team.
  • Manage the design and construction of your structures and processes more efficiently by using intelligent and connected workflows to improve predictability, productivity and profitability.
  • Digitalise your construction site, from project information through to design. Allowing you to make more informed design decisions and collaborate in real-time to support the delivery of your project.

Building Information Modelling (BIM) refers to the digital representation of both the physical and functional characteristics of a facility. Autodesk Revit is a leading software used to create BIM models.

You can think of BIM as a process and Revit as a tool to get the most out of that process.

BIM Modeling is a 3D modelling process that empowers architects, contractors, engineers and construction workers (AEC professionals) with the information and insight they need to make important and accurate decisions.

These models have almost become an industry staple, and help professionals more efficiently plan, design, construct and manage your site.

To create your scan, we will first neeed to visit your site to collect point cloud data with our 3D scanner. Once this has been done, we will start to process the information in Revit software back at our office. Processing 3D images can be slightly more time consuming than creating 2D drawings, but provides a more detailed and comprehensive deliverable that could save you time in the future.

Our team will be able to provide you with a more definitive timescale once we have received information regarding your project or site.
